About

EARTHLING: n. one who inhabits the earth.

"Since we all inhabit the earth, all of us are considered earthlings. There is no sexism, no racism or speciesism in the term earthling. It encompasses each and every one of us: warm or cold blooded, mammal, vertebrate or invertebrate, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish, and human alike." (EARTHLINGS)

Equality, compassion, kindness - these are the values EARTHLING is based upon.

EARTHLING is a 100% cruelty-free certified vegan and ethical fashion brand founded with the intention of creating long-lasting sustainable loungewear clothing that will inspire to treat the animals, the Earth and the workers with love and respect.

All our pieces are ethically cut and sewn in a fair-labour, sweatshop-free, family-run factory in Slovakia, Europe. The closeness to our studio allows us to have a bigger control over the process and ensure good working practices. We make sure our production team has a healthy and safe working environment, are being paid fairly, have freely chosen employment and have snacks and homemade pastries available anytime- they love that! We are happy to support our local community and contribute to its growth and development as well as they support and help us grow and shape our identity.

DID YOU KNOW? *By 2030, the climate impact of the apparel industry alone is forecast to nearly match today's total annual US greenhouse gas emissions, emitting 4.9 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent.*

Our vision is to have our whole supply chain in one country, one location.

At EARTHLING we believe in transparent supply chains, ethical practices and supporting local economies.

All our products are naturally dyed, cut, sewn, packaged and shipped in Slovakia, Europe.

By manufacturing ourselves and owning our supply chain we are able to:

  • Reduce shipping miles which helps alleviate our dependence on fossil fuels, reduce air pollution and cut back on greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Create in house recycling systems.
  • Have full transparency in the whole supply chain.

SUSTAINABLE FABRICS

We only use second-hand fabrics or materials that have been ethically manufactured, which means that the harvesting, weaving and dying processes (we only use natural dyes made from plant of course and never from animal sources) must be done with all the health and safety regulations well enforced. We only get our fabrics and materials from manufacturers that treat their workers with respect by giving them good working conditions. All of our fabrics are certified OEKO-TEX or GOTS.

Our organic cotton is grown with no pesticides, herbicides or harmful chemicals. Organic production maintains soil fertility, reduces the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and builds biologically diverse agriculture.

GOTS certifies all chemical inputs such as dyes used that must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. Also, a functional wastewater treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and processors must comply with minimum social criteria. This ensures that the workers growing the cotton are receiving fair wages and good working conditions.
